How Do I Know If I'm Depressed?

 

 

 

 

 

Depression affects your thoughts, feelings, behaviour and well being. You will often feel a lack of motivation or interest in experiences and activities that would normally bring you joy or pleasure. It is normally a temporary reaction to life events. It may cause:

  • Sadness

  • Difficulty in thinking and concentration

  • An increase or decrease in appetite

  • A disruption to sleep.

Depression can cause feelings of dejection or hopelessness and suicidal thoughts. It can either be short term or long term.

​

Life events and changes that may cause depression include: childbirth, menopause, financial difficulties, unemployment, stress (such as from work, education, family, living conditions, marriage etc), a medical diagnosis, bullying, the death of a loved one, or one of the many life stressors that we face.

​

Teenagers may be especially prone to experiencing a depressed mood caused by social rejection, peer pressure or bullying.

​

Afternoon: 19:00 - 20.30
